FRIENDS is governed by a board of Directors representing various aspects of our community. The Board of Directors provide governance and oversight to the operations of the organization, and work with key leaders to develop strategic plans and mission-centric initiatives. All members are committed to FRIENDS’ mission and have a vested interest in the organization, the individuals it serves, and the community which we live.
For individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, we will insure they have a voice in the community, and access to person centered supports that promote independence and choice.
For our families, we serve as a support and informational network. And work cooperatively to ensure lifelong supports for their loved ones.
For our community, we promote acceptance and understanding through awareness and education, and enhance our community through opportunities for inclusive living.
As the governing body of FRIENDS, the Board ensures the organization fulfills its mission, operates ethically, and maintains effective leadership, strategic direction, and adequate resources. Board members are expected to serve a minimum of one two-year term, with the option to serve consecutive one-year terms thereafter.
Key Commitments
- Mission & Strategy: Guide FRIENDS' mission by participating in strategic planning and key initiatives.
- Fundraising: Support fundraising efforts by giving personally and engaging donors and sponsors.
- Community Advocacy: Act as an advocate and ambassador for FRIENDS within the community.
- Oversight: Ensure ethical and legal fiscal management by reviewing budgets, audits, and key policies.
- CEO Oversight: Hire and evaluate the CEO to ensure strong organizational leadership.
Board members play a vital role in advancing FRIENDS’ impact through active engagement and stewardship.
