Assistant Bunk Reader-Happy, TX

The Assistant Bunk Reader helps oversees feed consumption of all cattle to balance between over an underfeeding while maximizing gain and efficiency with minimal waste.

• Receives and sorts feed cards
• Examines cattle and recommends rations based on observations
• Determines how much feed will be fed and makes adjustments on feed" Determines when to increase rations for cattle
• Discusses feeding problems with feed crew supervisor
• Gives information to dispatchers via computer/radio
• Ensures bunk cables are in proper position during feeding cycle
• Ensures that rocks, concrete and metalare picked up out of bunks and that bunks are kept clean of manure, mold etc.
• Acts as department supervisor in absence of supervisor
• Acts as a resources and troubleshooter regarding feeding issues
• Drives feed truck in absence of truck drivers
• Sweeps and cleans mill and scoops bunks as needed: performs light maintenance on vehicles as needed. 

• 1 year relevant experience

• Valid License

• Long-term sitting, driving, some lifting, and shoveling
• Frequently ascends/ descends a ladder to access feed truck
• Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions
• Moving machinery
• Extreme weather conditions such as rain, sleet, snow, hail, heat, cold, wind dust, etc.
