OtherMarketing Assistant

We've partnered with a well-regarded Sydney media agency that works across planning, buying and strategy for a roster of category-leading brands. They're known in the industry for strong strategy credentials, a genuine belief that good creative and good media should work together, and a culture that people stay for. They're now looking for someone at the start of their media career to join the Client Partners team.

This is a hands-on introduction to how advertising campaigns come together, working on real campaigns from the first step through to the final results.

You'll work alongside experienced media specialists who'll train you as you go. You'll help them gather prices from TV networks, radio stations, publishers and other media owners, make sure the ad files arrive on time and in the right format, check that ads ran where and when they were booked, and make sure every invoice matches the budget at the end of the month. You'll see every type of media and every stage of a campaign, and this role is the first step on a real career path.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • →

Source planning rates from media partners and help the planners brief partners and the investment team

  • →

Collate specs and material deadlines, send instructions to media partners and keep creative agencies on track to deliver

  • →

Track live placements to make sure what runs matches what was booked

  • →

Prepare pre and in-campaign reports for clients, and compile post-analysis once campaigns wrap

  • →

Lead mid and end-of-month invoicing reconciliations, job closures and budget updates

  • →

Collate proof of posting and tear sheets for non-TV campaigns, and load offline channels for invoicing

  • →

Build relationships with junior contacts at media partners, run the weekly partner presentations and keep the contact list and media kits in order

  • →

Maintain the WIP, attend WIP meetings and capture contact reports

  • A relevant degree, and ideally an internship or some exposure to media, marketing or an agency environment

  • Sharp attention to detail. Much of this role is making sure numbers, bookings and invoices line up, and small errors matter

  • Comfort with numbers and spreadsheets, and the commercial sense to know why the reconciliation matters, not just how to do it

  • Clear written and spoken communication, with partners, creative agencies and your own team

  • Strong organisation and the ability to keep several campaigns moving at once

  • Curiosity about the media landscape and how audience and measurement tools are used to plan and report

You want to understand media from the ground up. You're happy to learn the detail properly before you start shaping strategy, because you know the people who understand the mechanics end up making the best calls later on.

You're the person who notices when something doesn't add up and follows it through until it does. You can work on your own when a task is clear, and you ask early when it isn't.

  • You want to skip the implementation side and go straight into strategy or creative

  • Detailed admin like invoicing, tracking and reconciliations feels like a chore rather than part of the craft

  • You'd rather work through a defined list of tasks than support a team on whatever comes up

  • Exposure to every channel and every stage of a campaign, so you build a complete foundation rather than one narrow specialism

  • Genuine investment in your development from day one: a structured 180-day onboarding program, regular manager check-ins, and a senior mentor from the leadership team

  • Weekly founder-led mentoring sessions that cover far more than media skills. Topics range from presentation skills to mental health and personal development

  • A close-knit team in a founder-led independent and multiple-time winner of best places to work recognition

  • A strong social culture with an active culture club, regular events, and a team that genuinely enjoys spending time together

  • A business moving towards a more senior model, which means the people around you are experienced and the conversations are substantive

If this sounds like the right move, we'd love to hear from you. Hit apply below or reach out directly, we're happy to have a chat first.
