Senior/Lead Backend Engineer

We're building a fully integrated energy company: developing our own solar, batteries and other generation projects, building our own hardware, improving and developing grid infrastructure, trading power in real time, and installing distributed energy in homes. By selling directly to consumers we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers.

We're hiring a Senior/Lead Backend Engineer to build the core digital infrastructure for a next-generation energy company. You'll work closely with product across the full back-end and engineer backend systems that are second to none.

• →Own systems end-to-end, from design and architecture through to production, with a high degree of autonomy as an individual contributor. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• →Building the inference layer for our AI workloads, serving millions of prompts per day across customer support and meter-reading OCR, and migrate workloads onto our own GPU infrastructure.
• →Working on one of the core data challenges in energy: settlement data can arrive months after delivery, requiring systems that support continuous recalculation as new data becomes available.
• →Developing our real-time billing engine, including per-customer ordering and idempotency, audit trails, and pricing based on half-hourly meter data.
• →Building and extending our trading and hedging systems, covering forward markets, portfolio optimisation, and reconciliation against exchanges we trade on directly.

• Demonstrable excellence as a software engineer
• Ideally 2+ years of experience (We’re hiring across levels, from mid-level engineers to Heads of Engineering)
