Training Centre Manager

We're building a fully integrated energy company: developing our own solar, batteries and other generation projects, building our own hardware, improving and developing grid infrastructure, trading power in real time, using AI across the business, and installing distributed energy in homes. By selling directly to consumers we cut out the middleman, lower costs and pass the savings on to our customers.

We're building a new Training Centre in Birmingham to bring engineer training and assessment in-house, and we're looking for a Centre Manager to lead it: running the centre day to day, owning its quality and accreditation, and building Birmingham into a fully accredited training operation. This is a leadership and quality-assurance role rather than a hands-on training role: you'll manage the trainers and make sure the centre meets its standards.

• →Run the day-to-day operation of the training centre: facilities, scheduling, budget and team
• →Lead and line-manage the training team
• →Own the centre's quality-management system and lead internal quality assurance, independently sampling and verifying trainers' assessment decisions
• →Own the centre's accreditation: act as the named point of contact for awarding bodies, and take the centre through approval and ongoing audits
• →Build and maintain the centre's compliance framework: health and safety, safeguarding, data protection, equality and diversity, malpractice and appeals
• →Lead health and safety across a site with live gas and electrical practical work
• →Drive continuous improvement across the centre's training and quality operations

• Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance qualification (IQA/V1 or equivalent), so you can verify assessment decisions across the centre
• Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET)
• A recognised assessing qualification (TAQA, CAVA or equivalent)
• Experience managing a training centre, workshop or similar technical/vocational operation, including managing people and owning a budget
• Hands-on technical background in at least one of our training areas: smart metering (gas and electric), electrical, EV installation, heat pumps, solar, BESS
• Experience owning compliance and quality standards for a training or technical operation, ideally as a point of contact for an awarding body or accreditation scheme
• Health and safety leadership experience across technical or practical work
• Bonus: IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent H&S management qualification; experience as an electrician / JIB Gold Card; experience taking a training centre through awarding-body approval
