Java Software Engineer | Garmin Dive team

We’re looking for a passionate Java engineer eager to bring expertise in an end-to-end product development environment across a range of impactful projects.

The Garmin Dive app is essentially the ultimate diving companion application featuring a digital logbook and community platform designed for scuba divers and free divers and it’s built to pair seamlessly with Garmin’s Descent series and other compatible watches.

We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require 5 days in the office each week. 

• →Develop and enhance software solutions for Garmin Applications
• →Apply software engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
• →Understand business needs and translate them to technical solutions.
• →Add value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions.
• →Help ensure resiliency and high availability of the applications owned by your team. 
• →Help set up monitoring for the new features being developed.
• →Troubleshoot software issues.
• →Write and maintain technical documentation.

• Strong knowledge of Java and OOP principles.
• Proven experience in designing, enhancing and developing complex Java microservices using Spring Boot (experience in cloud-native application development is a plus).
• Strong understanding of Spring Framework.
• Good knowledge of web services (REST).
• Knowledgeable about relational or non-relational databases.
• Good knowledge of unit testing.
• Good understanding of design patterns.
• Good usage skills of development tools (source control, development environment, issue tracking).
• Good knowledge of building tools and continuous delivery.
• 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
