Manager, Marine Underwriting

To underwrite all marine classes within authority limit
To issue all marine policies and endorsements including policies from branches
To analyse marine results via monthly reportings
To assist in reviewing "exception reports" to ensure branches follow the company's underwriting guidelines
To provide customer and branch response in relation to Marine Underwriting guidelines
To review Renewals with claims experience
To train staff and agents on different classes of liability e.g. Marine Cargo, Hull & Goods-in-Transit.
To assist the other Underwriting Units whenever required
To assist the Head of Department (HOD) in carrying out ad-hoc projects
To adhere to AMLA provisions and all other applicable policies and compliance matters concerning
GEGM and the Great Eastern Group and be vigilant to uphold these in the discharge of duties

Possess a recognised degree in any field, or Insurance qualifications at intermediate level
Strong team leadership skills and demonstrate the ability to structure, build, align and focus a high performing team with the requisite experience and capabilities to grow the business.
Strong organizational and problem solving skills to manage multiple projects/initiatives and ongoing demands
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in MS Office
High level of integrity, takes accountability of work and good attitude over teamwork
Takes initiative to improve current state of things and adaptable to embrace new changes
