We are seeking a highly strategic, analytical, and results-oriented Director of Enterprise Inventory Demand Planning to lead enterprise-wide inventory planning and demand forecasting across our retail, eCommerce, and wholesale channels. This role is responsible for developing and executing inventory investment strategies that optimize sales, margin, customer service, and working capital performance while ensuring product availability across a complex and evolving business.

The Director will own the enterprise Open-to-Buy (OTB) process, demand planning strategy, inventory forecasting, replenishment oversight, and inventory optimization initiatives. This leader will partner closely with Merchandising, Pricing, Finance, Supply Chain, Distribution, Technology, and Data Analytics teams to translate business objectives into actionable inventory strategies that drive growth and profitability.

The ideal candidate combines deep retail inventory planning expertise with a forward-thinking mindset and passion for innovation. They possess a strong understanding of forecasting methodologies, inventory productivity metrics, and cross-functional business planning processes, while also embracing emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, predictive analytics, and automation to transform planning effectiveness and decision-making.

This is a highly visible leadership role that directly influences financial performance, customer experience, and enterprise strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the enterprise inventory planning and demand forecasting function, ensuring inventory investments align with sales, margin, service, and profitability objectives.
  • Own and evolve the company's Open-to-Buy (OTB) process, driving disciplined inventory management practices across all categories and channels.
  • Develop short-term and long-term inventory strategies that support company growth initiatives, promotional plans, seasonal demand fluctuations, new product launches, and category expansion.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Inventory Planners, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision making.
  • Partner with Merchandising teams to develop inventory plans that support assortment strategies while achieving inventory productivity and customer service goals.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Distribution, and Operations teams to proactively identify inventory constraints, supply risks, and fulfillment opportunities.
  • Work closely with Finance leadership to develop inventory forecasts, working capital plans, inventory reserve strategies, and annual operating budgets.
  • Establish inventory and demand planning performance metrics, monitor trends, identify risks and opportunities, and communicate actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on forecast accuracy, inventory optimization, replenishment performance, and end-to-end planning effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, machine learning, automation, and advanced analytics to improve demand forecasting, inventory deployment, and scenario planning capabilities.
  • Utilize predictive modeling and business intelligence tools to develop more sophisticated forecasting methodologies and support strategic decision making.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory planning reviews with executive leadership.
  • Evaluate inventory health through key metrics including service levels, fill rates, inventory turns, weeks of supply, in-stock performance, GMROI, aged inventory, and working capital utilization.
  • Provide strategic guidance during periods of demand volatility, supply chain disruption, and changing market conditions.
  • Establish scalable planning processes that support future business growth and organizational transformation initiatives.
  • Serve as a key business partner and thought leader across inventory management, forecasting, supply chain planning, and enterprise analytics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Hybrid work environment, 3 days in-person attendance (Pittsburgh, PA) in addition to ability to work remotely.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Analytics, Operations, Economics, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree (MBA or related discipline) preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in inventory planning, merchandise planning, demand planning, forecasting, supply chain planning, or inventory management within a retail, consumer products, eCommerce, or multi-channel environment.
  • 4+ years of experience leading and developing high-performing planning, forecasting, or inventory management teams.
  • Deep understanding of retail planning principles including Open-to-Buy (OTB), inventory forecasting, replenishment, allocation, inventory productivity, demand planning, and inventory optimization.
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience managing inventory investments, working capital, margin optimization, and profitability initiatives.
  • Proven success influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving alignment across Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, and Executive Leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing planning systems, ERP platforms, forecasting tools, and business intelligence solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business strategies.
  • Experience leveraging advanced analytics, predictive modeling, artificial intelligence, and machine learning applications within planning environments strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and executive-facing leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while effectively managing multiple priorities and competing demands.
