We are seeking a Research Assistant (or Associate) in Protein Sciences to support our R&D projects and laboratory operations. Key tasks can range from downstream purification to protein characterization work to data recording, management and analyses. Candidate will work closely with Senior Scientists (SS) and department supervisor to ensure alignment on project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

 

Responsibilities

  • Experimental design and planning: able to contribute to R&D project(s) development through design-build-test-learn (DBTL) cycles, literature review
  • Protein Purification & Production: execute purification schemes (affinity, ion-exchange, size-exclusion etc)
  • Protein characterization: biophysical and biochemical assays
  • Documentation and reporting: maintain detailed experimental records, preparing reports, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Laboratory Information Systems (LIMs).
  • Lab Operations: perform routine lab hygiene activities, inventory management, and safety compliance

Requirements

  • Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent
  • General knowledge of and hands-on experience in protein production downstream workflow from handling mammalian cell culture, various protein purification schemes using manual bead-based columns or FPLCs, and typical protein detection (SDS-PAGE, Western blot) methods.
  • General knowledge of and hands-on experience in microplate reader plate-based assays (e.g. ELISAs) and other protein characterization methods (primarily protein binder affinity measurement using BLI/SPR)
  • 1+ years in antibody production, research, process development or technical services.
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and teamwork
  • Familiar with general statistical analysis (Graphpad Prism), report compilation and presentation (Microsoft office suite)
