to ensure operational decisions are grounded in timely, accurate financial analysis; leads the budgeting process for the assigned scope; and acts as the first line of financial control and expense approval authority for that scope.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

FINANCIAL BUSINESS PARTNERING:

  • Act as the primary financial advisor to the assigned Plant Manager and Departmental Head, embedding financial perspective into all operational decisions.
  • Translate financial results and KPIs into clear, actionable insight for non-financial stakeholders, ensuring operational decisions respond promptly to performance gaps.

  • Proactively flag financial risks and opportunities arising from operational activity, commercial negotiations, or market conditions affecting the assigned site(s).

BUDGETING & FORECASTING:

  • Develop and maintain rolling forecasts and financial models reflecting operational plans, cost assumptions, and market inputs (e.g., FX, inflation).
  • Lead the development and periodic revision of OPEX and CAPEX budgets in collaboration with site/plant management and the Manager, FP&A.
  • Support scenario planning and sensitivity analysis for budget and cost-impact assessments tied to operational changes, shutdowns, or strategic decisions.

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS:

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of the assigned site(s)' performance, identifying trends, variances, and root causes against budget and prior periods.

  • Analyse key financial and operational metrics/KPIs (e.g., cost-per-unit, margin, utilisation) to provide insight into efficiency and profitability.
  • Provide analytical and financial-modelling support for business cases, capital investments, and commercial arrangements relevant to the assigned site(s).

EXPENSE CONTROL & APPROVAL:

  • Serve as first reviewer and approval authority for all expenses raised from the assigned operational site(s), ensuring alignment with approved budgets and financial policy.
  • Strengthen internal controls over cost recognition, accruals, and expense approvals at the assigned site(s).
  • Monitor and track actual expenditure against budget across all relevant cost centers, escalating material variances promptly.

 REPORTING & SYSTEMS:

  • Leverage ERP and reporting systems (e.g., Sage X3, Power BI) for real-time cost tracking, budget monitoring, and variance analysis.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and financial models that enhance visibility for both site or corporate stakeholders.
  • Contribute site-level data and analysis to the Group consolidation, management reporting, and board-reporting process as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field is mandatory.
  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics is a plus.
  • Relevant professional certification (ACCA, CIMA, CFA, CPA) is a plus.
  • Multicultural experience is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in French is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 6+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, cost control, and financial business partnering, preferably in the Oil & Gas, Power, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Proficiency with financial/ERP software (e.g., SAP, Sage X3) and reporting/BI tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Working knowledge of IFRS; exposure to SYSCOHADA and multi-jurisdiction reporting is an advantage.
