The Emerging Studies Institute (ESI) is a new dynamic and important component of the Georgetown University infrastructure tasked with the development and delivery of a range of degree and non degree programs. The Institute will provide an opportunity for faculty  to create exciting new programs involving inter and intra disciplinary collaboration. ESI will help develop the programs and identify the clients and external audiences for their delivery via market research and marketing. These programs have the capacity to generate important funds to support the mission of the associated units and departments. Some of the funds can be employed as financial incentives to engage faculty .

Custom and Executive Education programs are included as part of this initiative and creating and maintaining a marketable portfolio of programs is a key part of the ESI’s strategic growth plan.  However, while these programs are potentially lucrative, it should be  acknowledged that it is a competitive space and decisions regarding the areas in which we develop programs must be well informed. Moreover, we have to devote resources to identify and attract clients and audiences.  As this is a relatively unexplored market, one of ESI’s first and most important objectives is to create a client base and for which we will develop a portfolio of educational products for single or multiple delivery. The Director will be tasked with the critical functions of attracting audiences for these new programs and assisting the ESI director in determining which areas of study the ESI should invest funds to develop new courses.

The Director of Partnerships responsibilities will include extensive management of people, processes, and client interaction daily across cultures and borders, supervising the communications and interactions with hundreds of participants across multiple programs. They will also entail  detailed coordination with faculty members from all university units and centers, internal stakeholders, external vendors, and contractors.  The D.P. will also be responsible for identifying potential clients and establishing agreements for faculty to deliver programs. Moreover, the D.P. will be responsible for maintaining portfolios of programs and clients and ensuring a steady flow of activity.

This position will require flexibility as the incumbent may travel up to 10% of the year domestically and abroad and work some weekends and evenings up to 20% of the year for program deliveries and events.
