The Consortium Project Director serves as the primary leadership role overseeing a multi-party consortium delivering a major EPC/infrastructure or energy project in Algeria. This position drives governance, partner alignment, and customer relationship management across a joint venture structure — leading through influence and coordination rather than direct authority over partner resources.

Responsibilities

→Lead consortium governance, chair Coordinating Committee meetings, track decisions and actions, and escalate unresolved matters when required.
→Monitor both Parties’ performance across schedule, cost, quality, HSE, and contractual milestones, driving corrective and recovery actions where needed.
→Own the Integrated Master Schedule and coordinate project interfaces, risks, changes, and reporting across both Parties.
→Act as the primary Consortium communication channel with the Customer and lead Customer negotiations and claims discussions in alignment with both Parties.
→Manage relationships with local stakeholders, including regulators, customs, and permitting authorities, while ensuring compliance with integrity and anti-corruption requirements.
→Partner with Commercial and Contracts teams on claims, guarantees, payments, contractual matters, and change management.
→Coordinate Consortium-level risks, technical and system interfaces, HSE, quality performance, and multidisciplinary project activities.
→Support dispute avoidance and resolution between the Parties and coordinate the assessment and approval of project changes.
→Provide regular consolidated project reporting, KPI dashboards, and action tracking covering progress, risks, milestones, HSE, governance, and interfaces.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or Business/Commercial discipline
Minimum 20 years in major EPC, infrastructure, or energy/utility projects
Demonstrated experience within multi-company consortium/JV structures
Experience managing electrical/civil and technical/system interfaces
Senior customer relationship management, ideally with state-owned or major institutional clients
Practical experience working in Algeria, or closely comparable North African/francophone market experience
Fluency in English

PMP or equivalent certification desirable
Contract/commercial management qualification desirable
Relevant sector project experience strongly preferred
Fluency in French and/or Arabic
Established relationships with local clients, contractors, suppliers and authorities
Practical understanding of local regulatory, customs, import, permitting and construction processes
Ability to anticipate how local market conditions affect schedule, procurement and logistics
High integrity, sound commercial and contractual judgment
Strong negotiation and influencing skills; resilience under pressure
Cultural awareness bridging both Parties and local business norms
