Who are we looking for? 

GHD is seeking an Architectural Designer to join our US West Architecture team. In this role, you will independently deliver the full range of responsibilities on projects, applying established architectural design methods to projects and contributing to the design, planning, management, and delivery of client-focused solutions. You will support work across sectors and geographies while broadening your technical capabilities, building experience in winning work, and strengthening your project management and client engagement skills.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Develop architectural concepts, design options, and validate solutions.                                                 
  • Produce coordinated architectural and engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation using appropriate design tools and BIM workflows.                                                                                                  
  • Conduct building and technical site visits to assess condition, identify defects, and document associated risks.                                                
  • Contribute to feasibility studies, alternatives analysis, business cases, and cost-benefit evaluations that inform project decisions.                                                     
  • Provide practical advice on construction regulations, codes, standards, and good practice for the maintenance, alteration, and construction of buildings.                                                           
  • Organize, analyze, and interpret project scope, schedule, budget data to support timely, quality delivery.                                                  
  • Review bid, proposal, and tender requirements; gather information and assessing delivery feasibility in support of winning work.                                                 
  • Prepare clear reports and presentations for technical and nontechnical audiences and review the work of others where appropriate.                                                       
  • Support client relationships and project coordination, including helping organize the work of others and providing technical guidance within your area of competence. 
  • US Citizenship is required                                                                 

What you will bring to the team          

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.                                                     
  • Approximately 8+ years of relevant architectural design experience, with the ability to complete typical assignments with limited supervision.                                                         
  • Working proficiency in architectural design, design development, technical documentation, BIM, and applicable engineering or design systems and tools.                                                   
  • Ability to analyze alternatives, define requirements and future-state solutions, and make sound recommendations based on value, cost, risk, and stakeholder needs.                                                
  • Strong data analysis, technical problem-solving, reporting, and quality-control skills, with an eye for process improvement.                                                        
  • Clear, concise, and professional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences.                                                     
  • A collaborative, accountable, and resourceful approach; sound judgment; integrity; and the confidence to raise difficult issues constructively.                                                          
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, navigate complex information, meet commitments, and know when to act independently or escalate.                                                 
  • Commitment to ongoing learning, relevant professional accreditation, and staying current with technology, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • US citizenship is required

The salary range for this position is $76,388 to $149,250.  The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and adhere to all relevant pay transparency legislation.
