At GHD we are looking for a Environmental Field Technician to join the US West Mining Team,  in our Pheonix, AZ office. Working with the CAR group , this position offers a variety of projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. You will work diligently as an integral member of the GHD team to deliver meaningful information to our clients. You will engage with team members and contractors and be largely responsible for your own work. Duties will evolve with experience, and no day will be just like the last.

In this role you will coordinate and perform field investigation activities to characterize and/or remediate cleanup facilities to achieve regulatory closure. This role will allow you to compile and interpret data in comparison to the environmental regulatory standards and prepare technical correspondence, including reports and proposals.

Responsibilities: Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in 
• the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
• Personal Capability Building: Develop and maintain excellent process or technical skills by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.
• Testing: Perform a broad range of tests requiring detailed assessment, measurement, and judgment.
• Solutions Analysis: Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents.
• Operational Compliance: Develop working knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures and of regulatory codes and codes of conduct relevant to own work, adhering to mandatory procedures to ensure own work is undertaken to the required standards.
• Waste Management: Carry out operational waste management tasks by following established processes.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Support technical troubleshooting efforts, aiding in the quick and accurate identification, analysis, and resolution of technical issues with equipment and experiments.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED required

Experience:

• Minimum 1-3 years of environmental and/or soil sampling experience preferred
• Sufficient physical flexibility, stamina, and balance to perform bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, walking over rough terrain and lifting or moving up to 40 pounds. Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
• Ability to work in outdoor desert environments and elements, including changing site conditions, etc.
• Valid driver’s license required
• OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training preferred
• Ability and willingness to perform field work 100% of the time
• Positive and collaborative work style.
• Ability to work in a team and take direction.

Hourly rate: $31.00-$52.00 per hour based on experience
