We are seeking a Senior Environmental Regulatory Manager – Upstream to lead regulatory strategy and client advisory support for complex  environmental remediation and reclamation projects.

This role will play a key part in shaping regulatory engagement, managing risk, and supporting long-term site closure and reclamation strategies. The position offers a blend of technical leadership, client-facing work, and contribution to business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a regulatory lead for environmental remediation and reclamation projects at upstream oil and gas sites 
  • Advise clients on permitting, compliance strategy, and regulatory risk 
  • Lead regulatory reviews, audits, corrective action programs, and closure planning 
  • Interface directly with regulatory agencies at the county, state, and federal level 
  • Monitor regulatory trends and support proactive client strategy 
  • Support proposals, client development, and strategic growth initiatives 
  • Mentor and support development of technical staff
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field
  • 12+ years of regulatory experience related to legacy or active mine sites
  • Experience supporting remediation, reclamation, and enforcement negotiations
  • Strong understanding of permitting, compliance, and regulatory strategy
  • Excellent technical writing and executive communication skills
  • Willingness to travel

Salary Range: $94,000-$156, 000 based on location and experience

  • Federal regulatory frameworks such as CERCLA, RCRA, and Clean Water Act
  • Pipeline and/or oil well-related permitting and reclamation
  • Coordination with agencies such as CalGEM, EPA, SWRCB, RWQCB, BLM, or comparable regulatory bodies
