About the Role
~1 min readJoin our Risk R&D department where technology innovation, strategic architecture, and domain expertise come together to deliver industry-leading Risk solutions. As a Software Development Manager on the AI, Architecture, and Innovation team, your primary focus will be hands-on software development and technical leadership. This role combines active participation in the design, development, testing, and delivery of software with a smaller amount of managerial and administrative responsibility.
This is not a traditional people-management position. While you will support and develop team members through coaching, mentoring, and performance management, the majority of your time will be spent working alongside the team: designing solutions, writing code, reviewing implementations, troubleshooting issues, and helping drive successful delivery of key initiatives.
- Lead development project designs and enforce technical standards.
- Provide technical leadership to the team through code reviews, mentoring, training and managing the activities of the team.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders (other managers, developers, user interface designers, product managers) to ensure implementation satisfies functional requirements and is consistent with established R&D standards.
- Manage and lead project scoping and scheduling; track progress of individual tasks and alert executive management and stakeholders of concerns meeting schedules, while following established R&D standards.
- Maintain accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers.
- Contribute to product direction through collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, and others within SAS.
- Manage all aspects of the team including teamwork, performance management, feedback, professional growth through collaboration with SAS human resources, SAS education and executive leadership.
- Work with senior management to develop, prioritize, and assign project objectives and responsibilities to individual resources.
- Engage with upper management in major decisions and complex issues.
- Perform hands-on development tasks including writing code, performing code reviews, writing and reviewing tests, monitoring test reports, designing new features, demoing new features, etc.
- Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.
- Embrace curiosity, passion, authenticity and accountability. These are our values and influence everything we do.
