Senior Software Engineer, Automated Test Systems (Hybrid - Aguadilla, PR)

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
• C# development experience, including class-based design, object‑oriented programming, and dynamic library creation
• Proficiency with Visual Studio and general software debugging methods
• Experience with NI TestStand for test sequence development
• Solid understanding of electrical engineering concepts and hardware interaction
• Experience mentoring or guiding other engineers
• Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English across all levels of an organization (verbal and written)
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

• Professional experience developing software for automated test systems, ATE environments, or hardware-in-the-loop setups.
• Experience using communication protocols such as JTAG, I2C, and Ethernet‑based methods (SSH, gRPC).
• Ability to interface with test instruments using SCPI.
• Knowledge of LabVIEW for instrument integration or station development.
• Familiarity with hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and RF test equipment.
• Experience with development tool sets, for example, Jira, Subversion/Git/Version Management.
• UX design experience, especially for operator‑facing test applications.
• Experience with automated test environments (Python).

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join an Agile/Scrum Development team focused on building and supporting a reusable operating environment for automated product testing and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) systems.

This role involves developing software that interfaces directly with complex test equipment, radio test fixtures, and hardware systems, and enabling automated testing, simulation, and validation of advanced communication systems.

This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.

This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

• →Work as part of an agile development team designing and supporting software for automated test stations used in the validation of communication systems and mixed‑signal electronic assemblies.
• →Develop modular C# software applications, including dynamic libraries, that interface directly with automated test hardware, test fixtures, and embedded systems.
• →Implement automated test sequences using NI TestStand and integrate them with custom software modules, test instruments, and communication interfaces.
• →Program and control electronic test instruments using SCPI and related command sets.
• →Interface with a wide range of communication protocols including JTAG, I2C, and Ethernet‑based methods such as SSH and gRPC.
• →Collaborate closely with electrical, RF, and systems engineers to define hardware/software integration requirements, wiring configurations, and station architecture.
• →Debug hardware/software interactions, troubleshoot test equipment issues, and support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of test stations.
• →Design and maintain documentation, interface specifications, and automated test workflows.
• →Provide on‑site and remote support for development labs, including software updates, station upgrades, and issue resolution.
