SMT Pick-and-Place Programmer III (Onsite - Puerto Rico)

• HS Diploma or AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training) with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated professional or educational experience communicating in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

• Experience with ASM/Siplace, Fuji, Juki, Panasonic, Mycronic, Universal, or similar SMT pick-and-place equipment.
• Experience using CAD/PCB design data, Gerber files, centroid files, and BOM management systems.
• Knowledge of SMT component packages, including 0201, 0402, 0603, FPGA, BGA, and similar packages.
• Knowledge of solder paste printing, SPI/AOI inspection, reflow processes, and PCB assembly.
• Experience optimizing SMT programs for high-mix/low-volume or high-volume production environments.
• Familiarity with IPC standards, ESD requirements, and electronics manufacturing processes.

Collins Aerospace is seeking a SMT Pick-and-Place Programmer III to support the programming, setup, optimization, and continuous improvement of automated SMT equipment used in printed circuit board (PCB) assembly. As an SMT Pick-and-Place Programmer III, you will develop and maintain machine programs, component libraries, feeder assignments, and production setup information to ensure accurate, efficient, and repeatable PCB assembly. You will work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Materials teams to resolve manufacturing issues and support new product introductions and production improvements. This is an individual contributor position.

• →Create, modify, verify, and optimize pick-and-place machine programs for SMT PCB assemblies using CAD data, Gerber files, centroid files, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
• →Develop and maintain component libraries, including part numbers, manufacturer part numbers (MPNs), package types, dimensions, specifications, and component characteristics.
• →Verify component placement coordinates, orientation, polarity, rotation, and package information to ensure accurate PCB assembly.
• →Set up and maintain feeder assignments, component locations, machine recipes, and production setup information.
• →Review BOMs, engineering drawings, schematics, and manufacturing documentation to identify and resolve discrepancies before production.
• →Perform program verification and machine setup to ensure accurate component placement and successful production builds.
• →Optimize placement sequences, machine utilization, setup time, changeover processes, and throughput to improve production efficiency.
• →Troubleshoot placement errors, component recognition issues, feeder problems, and programming discrepancies, partnering with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Materials to resolve issues.
• →Support First Article Inspection (FAI), New Product Introduction (NPI), and production transfers by developing, validating, and maintaining accurate SMT programs and setup documentation.
• →Maintain revision control of SMT programs and component libraries while identifying opportunities to reduce component waste, machine downtime, and production setup time.
