Junior Geologist

Role Purpose:  

The Junior Exploration Geologist supports exploration programs aimed at identifying and delineating economically viable gold deposits. The role involves field mapping, sampling, drill program support, data collection, and geological logging under the supervision of senior geological personnel. 

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties  

1. Field Exploration Activities 

• Conduct geological mapping and structural interpretation. 

• Collect and document rock, soil, trench, and stream sediment samples. 

• Assist with geochemical and geophysical survey programs. 

• Supervise and monitor trenching and pitting activities. 

2. Drill Program Support 

• Log RC and diamond drill core accurately and consistently. 

• Mark up drill core for sampling and ensure QA/QC procedures are followed. 

• Coordinate core cutting and sample dispatch to accredited laboratories. 

• Monitor drilling contractors to ensure compliance with company standards. 

3. Data Management & Reporting 

• Capture and validate geological data in exploration databases. 

• Maintain accurate field notebooks and digital records. 

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly exploration activity reports. 

• Assist in resource modelling preparation and geological interpretations. 

4. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance 

• Adhere to company HSE policies and site safety standards. 

• Conduct risk assessments before field activities. 

• Promote safe working practices within the exploration team. 

• Ensure minimal environmental disturbance during exploration activities. 

5. Logistics & Camp Support 

• Assist in coordinating field supplies and equipment. 

• Support camp operations as required during field rotations. 

• Ensure proper maintenance and care of geological equipment. 

Minimum qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field. 

Working Experience – Nature & Length:

• 0–3 years’ experience in mineral exploration (gold preferred). 

Additional qualifications – competency requirements:

• Basic understanding of structural geology and mineralization controls. 

• Experience with core logging and sampling procedures is an asset. 

• Valid driver’s license (4x4 experience preferred).
