In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Welder
The Welder will be responsible for performing a variety of welding and fabrication tasks, including the repair,
modification, and construction of mining equipment, piping systems, and structural components. The ideal candidate
will have strong welding skills, knowledge of mining equipment, and a solid commitment to health, safety, and
environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding and fabrication on fixed and mobile mining equipment, including crushers, conveyors, hoppers,
- chutes, pipes, and structural steel.
- Carry out repairs using SMAW, MIG, TIG, and oxy-acetylene welding techniques.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance welding on site equipment and infrastructure.
- Cut, grind, and prepare materials for welding using appropriate tools and methods.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform welding in various positions and under challenging site conditions (e.g., confined spaces, at heights).
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
- Technical certification would be an asset.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques (SMAW, MIG, TIG, FCAW).
- Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of metal properties and safety procedures.
- Physically fit, capable of lifting, bending, and working in physically demanding environments.
- Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy materials.
- Basic knowledge of cutting, grinding, and fabrication tools.
Working Conditions
- Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
