In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Service Truck Technicians
The Service Truck Technician plays a critical role in the preventative maintenance program for mobile equipment at the mine site. This position is responsible for fueling, lubricating, and conducting routine service tasks on heavy mining equipment to ensure optimal operational performance and longevity. The technician will work closely with mechanics, dispatchers, and equipment operators to maintain service schedules and respond to maintenance needs efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently fuel, lube, and service mobile equipment such as haul trucks, dozers, graders, loaders, shovels, and drills.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment fluid levels, filters, and systems.
- Replenish fluids including fuel, engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and grease as required.
- Perform minor servicing and preventative maintenance activities (e.g., filter changes, lubrication tasks).
- Maintain accurate service records using maintenance software or service logs.
- Identify and report equipment deficiencies, leaks, or damage to the maintenance team.
- Operate lube and fuel service trucks in accordance with site safety and traffic rules.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of lubricants, fuels, and hazardous materials.
- Assist with equipment readiness and preparation for scheduled maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of service equipment, tools, and mobile fuel/lube trucks.
- Comply with all mine safety regulations, environmental procedures, and company policies.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
- Technical certification (e.g., Motor Vehicle Engine Repairs)
- Minimum 2 years experience operating service trucks or working in a similar industrial or mining environment.
Additional
- Valid driver’s license with Motor Lorry (ML) class, with clean record.
- Previous experience operating service trucks or working in a similar industrial or mining environment.
- Knowledge of fueling and lubrication systems, procedures, and best practices.
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
- Ability to work in physically demanding and remote outdoor environments.
Working Conditions
- Position based at the OKO Project site.
- Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
- Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
Compensation Package
- 1-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
