In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
Tool Crib Attendant
The Tool Crib Attendant plays a critical role in supporting mobile maintenance operations by managing the inventory, storage, issuance, and return of tools, equipment, and consumables. Working closely with mechanics, planners, and supervisors, the Tool Crib Attendant ensures that all tooling is readily available, properly maintained, and compliant with safety and operational standards to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of tools and equipment issued and returned by personnel.
- Issue and receive tools, parts, and consumables used in mobile equipment maintenance.
- Perform daily inventory checks and assist with monthly and annual inventory audits.
- Ensure tools are clean, calibrated, and in good working condition; report and tag damaged or unsafe equipment.
- Monitor tool crib stock levels and generate requisitions for replacements or restocking.
- Work collaboratively with procurement and warehouse personnel to track orders and delivery timelines.
- Organize and maintain the tool crib for optimal efficiency and compliance with 5S standards.
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and ensure proper handling/storage of hazardous materials.
- Assist in the implementation of tool tracking systems (manual or digital, e.g., SAP, AMT, or other CMMS).
- Support the maintenance team with administrative tasks such as documentation, checklists, and work order attachments.
- Enforce mine site safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements and safe lifting techniques.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
- High school diploma with a post-secondary training or certification in warehousing or mechanical trades is an asset.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in mining, construction, or heavy industrial environments.
Additional
- Familiarity with mobile equipment maintenance tools (e.g., torque wrenches, pneumatic tools, diagnostic equipment).
- Basic understanding of inventory management systems and procedures.
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office; SAP, Oracle, or other CMMS experience is a plus).
- Ability to operate forklifts or pallet jacks (certification may be required).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in a fast-paced, rugged environment
Working Conditions
- Position based at the OKO Project site.
- Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
- Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
Compensation Package
- 1-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
