In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:
TUG Mater
The TUG Master is responsible for the overall command of the vessel, responsible for safe navigation, the safety and welfare of passengers and crew, compliance with regulations, and execution of company policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Command the vessel and set course; make operational decisions for safe navigation in all conditions.
- Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, cargo, and the ship.
- Maintain communication with port, coast guard, and shore authorities; represent the company externally.
- Manage onboard emergency response (fire, flooding, medical, abandon-ship) and lead drills and training.
- Oversee execution of ship policies, regulatory compliance (SOLAS, IMO and local rules), and environmental requirements.
- Direct and supervise officers and crew; assign duties and maintain discipline.
- Oversee cargo operations, stowage plans, and coordination during loading/unloading.
- Maintain ship’s logbook, reports, and operational records; submit navigational and incident reports.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair projects; liaise with engineering and external contractors as required.
- Ensure lifesaving, firefighting, and safety equipment are maintained and ready.
- Promote onboard teamwork, resolve conflicts, and ensure passenger service standards.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
- Master Mariner certificate / Master’s license appropriate to vessel type and flag state.
- Minimum relevant seagoing experience (typically 5+ years in command/senior officer roles).
- Demonstrated experience in navigation, cargo operations, emergency management, and crew leadership.
- Knowledge of international maritime regulations (SOLAS, IMO), environmental protocols, and port procedures.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder liaison abilities.
- Sound judgment, situational awareness, and navigational proficiency.
- Ability to maintain discipline, train crew, and foster teamwork.
- Proficient record-keeping and report writing.
- Certifications & health
- Valid medical fitness certificate for seafarers.
- Coastal Master license and Discharge Book issued by MARAD
- Required STCW certificates (e.g., Basic Safety, GMDSS if applicable, Advanced Firefighting,
- Proficiency in Leadership and Managerial Skills as required).
- Any flag-specific or company-mandated endorsements.
Working Conditions
- Position based at the OKO Project site.
- Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
- Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
