Senior Manager Site Reliability Engineer

At GoDaddy the future of work looks different for each team. Some teams work in the office full-time; others have a hybrid arrangement (they work remotely some days and in the office some days) and some work entirely remotely.
This is a remote position, so you’ll be working remotely from your home. You may occasionally visit a GoDaddy office to meet with your team for events or meetings.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Manage and build a top-performing SRE and infrastructure unit in India, guiding and advancing a team of engineers across Infrastructure, Automation, Cloud Operations, and Site Reliability Engineering.
- →Develop GoDaddy's SRE Center of Excellence in India by establishing a robust operating model that supports efficient cooperation among global engineering teams and various time zones.
- →Foster platform-as-a-product thinking through developing self-service options spanning infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD, observability, database operations, incident management, and automation.
- →Boost developer experience and engineering pace by lowering platform barriers, refining frequent workflows, reinforcing reliability controls, and empowering feature teams to launch independently and confidently.
- →Drive infrastructure transformation from monolith-supporting systems to modular, multi-service, cloud-native platform architectures that support scale, resilience, security, and product velocity.
- →Take charge of reliability and operational quality by developing solid incident handling processes. Increase service availability and decrease MTTR. Encourage lessons learned after incidents and maintain systems at high levels of performance, security, and resilience.
- →Lead automation and toil reduction initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and allow SRE teams to focus on high-value engineering work.
- →Establish clear reliability approaches, including SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, production readiness reviews, operational health dashboards, and service ownership models.
- →Partner with product, engineering, security, and architecture leaders to align platform investments with business outcomes, customer experience, and long-term technology strategy.
- →Drive measurable improvements in availability, developer productivity, platform adoption, cost efficiency, incident reduction, and operational sophistication.
- →Serve as a senior technical leader in the Platform and Engineering groups. Provide sound technical judgment, question architectural choices constructively, and explain clearly how SRE and infrastructure investments support GoDaddy's strategy.
- →Help foster and develop a culture centered on AI-first thinking. Integrate AI-enhanced methods into engineering routines, operational processes, and daily team behaviors. This will boost productivity, improve decision-making, and encourage innovation throughout the SRE organization.
- →Build a strong engineering culture based on ownership, operational excellence, psychological safety, continuous improvement, and customer obsession.
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, cloud operations, or platform engineering.
- 6+ years of engineering leadership experience, including leading distributed, international, or cross-functional platform, SRE, or infrastructure teams.
- You have experience directing and scaling units of 10–20+ engineers, including senior engineers, technical leads, or managers.
- You bring established experience in constructing, enlarging, or reforming platform, infrastructure, cloud operations, or SRE organizations.
- You have experience leading a platform-as-a-product operating model, placing a strong emphasis on developer experience, adoption, self-service, and measurable outcomes.
- You have contributed to the modernization of large-scale systems, including migration from monolithic architectures to modular, component-based, or cloud-native platforms.
- You have deep experience operating secure, reliable, and scalable systems in SaaS, cloud, multi-product, commerce, marketplace, hosting, or high-traffic environments.
- You have a solid grasp of contemporary cloud infrastructure and reliability methods, including observability, incident management, SLOs/SLIs, capacity planning, automation, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, operational readiness, and disaster recovery.
- You have strong process orientation and experience implementing objectives and key results, reliability scorecards, operational reviews, post-incident reviews, and engineering excellence mechanisms.
- You have a history of producing quantifiable results in developer productivity, platform adoption, reliability, operational efficiency, and cost reduction.
- You are an effective communicator and influencer who can align senior collaborators across engineering, product, security, architecture, and business teams.
- You are comfortable operating in fast-paced, global environments and working across multiple time zones.
- You are fluent in English and able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- You bring proven experience integrating globally distributed engineering cultures into a single operating cadence. You also have a demonstrated ability to create cohesion, alignment, and a unified engineering identity across geographies.
- You are a people-first leader who understands how to assemble high-performing teams, nurture talent, provide clarity, and encourage a culture of responsibility, ownership, and inclusion.
- Experience in large-scale SaaS, commerce, marketplace, domain, hosting, payments, or infrastructure-heavy businesses.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Go, Python, AWS, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or similar cloud, observability, and automation platforms.
- Experience with developer tools powered by AI or employing AI to boost engineering productivity, operations, incident response, or automation.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, data platforms, or platform engineering at scale.
- Experience contributing to or leading open-source initiatives.
- Experience with M&A, post-acquisition integration, platform consolidation, or large-scale engineering transformation.
- Willingness to travel when necessary to work alongside international engineering groups, participate in leadership retreats, and assist with cross-regional coordination within GoDaddy's engineering organization.
