LABORATORY ASSISTANT/PHLEBOTOMIST--FCC

All aspects of Reference Lab functions within the Graves Gilbert Clinic Laboratory; Phlebotomy duties on
occasion. This position will float between Scottsville Rd. and FCC Walk in Clinic.

• →Performs phlebotomy procedures with high focus on attention to detail; properly identifying the
  patient prior to obtaining the specimen and accurate labeling of the specimen.
• →Performs EKGs as well as assistance with other laboratory functions.
• →Releasing orders from LIS on patients.
• →Maintains the necessary precautions to follow bloodborne pathogen guidelines.
• →Entering orders on patients in the LIS.
• →Monitors and reports equipment functionality to appropriate personnel.
• →May assist in orienting new employees or students regarding functions of the department.
• →May involve some Medical Assisting duties.
• →On occasion, may involve assisting satellite laboratory locations.
• →Other duties as necessary or assigned

• May have 1 or more years of college or vocational or technical school training without a
  degree or certification AMT, ASCP, NCA or similar certification in phlebotomy helpful but
  not required.
• Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal relations and effective
  communication skills
• Must be willing to travel between satellite locations with reliable transportation.
• Experience in phlebotomy is highly preferred.
• Customer service experience highly preferred.

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Nursing Assistant experience helpful but not required.
