Today, we are a growing multimedia company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. We are the nation's largest owner of top-rated local television stations and digital assets serving 117 full-power television markets that collectively reach approximately 37% of US television households. The portfolio includes 80 markets with the top-rated television station and 100 markets with the first and/or second highest-rated television station in average all-day ratings across 116 of such markets that were measured by Nielsen in 2025. We also own the largest Telemundo Affiliate group with 46 markets and Gray Digital Media, a full-service digital agency offering national and local clients digital marketing strategies with the most advanced digital products and services. Our additional media properties include video production companies Raycom Sports, Tupelo Media Group, and PowerNation Studios, as well as studio production facilities Assembly Atlanta and Third Rail Studios.
We operate a CBS + ABC duopoly in one of America's great news towns. That means more platforms for your work — First Alert 4 newscasts, new ABC 32 newscasts, and all-day streaming.
KMOV is the most watched television/digital news operation in Missouri and Southern Illinois with nationally-recognized and award-winning news, weather, and investigative content found both on-air and online. KMOV won the prestigious national Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Newscast in 2023. Based in suburban St. Louis County, KMOV’s home is a new multi-million-dollar state-of-the-art broadcasting and digital facility. Ranked as the #1 city in the nation in 2022 for new college graduates, St. Louis is now recognized for its low cost of living, convenient transportation, and robust arts and entertainment scene. Home to the world-famous Arch, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, City STL soccer, and Blues hockey, St. Louis is quickly becoming THE place to be.
What Winning Looks Like Here:
In St. Louis, First Alert means something. It's a promise: when it matters, we alert first, we stay out front, and we don't wait for the 5 p.m. show to tell people what happened at 2 p.m.
As our Audience-First MMJ, you will:
• Hunt moments, not soundbites. Lead every story with the most memorable moment from the field — off the top, not buried at :45.
• Be the original source. On the day's biggest story, make our video, our detail, our reporting the one everyone else has to credit. How do you separate when it's 4 cameras on the same scene? Show us.
• Put audience over linear. Yes, your stories will air in our traditional newscasts on First Alert 4 and ABC 32. But first, you think audience: you shoot, you send, you collaborate live with our Digital Content Center to post with urgency — stream it, push it, publish it now.
• Live in the field. You hate sitting around in meetings. So do we — for this role. Your desk is your car. Your assignment is to be out, building, finding, breaking.
What You Do Every Day:
• Enterprise, break, and own hard news and breaking news in the St. Louis market
• Build and work sources aggressively — not just for today, but for the next big one
• Shoot, write, edit compelling, tight, moment-driven stories for broadcast, streaming, and digital
• Go live with confidence and clarity, especially when news is breaking and unscripted
• Communicate constantly with producers and the Digital Content Center: what's happening, what you have, what you need, what's next
You'll be coached, you'll be pushed, and you'll be given room to run if you earn it.
Requirements
~2 min readWho Thrives In This Role:
• 3+ years working in a TV newsroom as an MMJ/reporter — and you can prove you're different
• A reel that opens with moments, not standups. We should feel like we were there.
• Aggressive on breaking news, calm under chaos, relentless on follow-ups
• Strong photographer instincts: framing, natural sound, sequencing that tells the story without narration
• Digital-first habits: cut a vertical moment, write an urgent web alert and update it
• Source-builder: cops, courts, community, scanners, social — you have a system
• Team player who collaborates fast with photographers, producers, anchors, and digital producers
What We're Not Looking For:
• Someone who wants to anchor. This is not an anchor track.
• Someone who wants to wait for a 6 p.m. package to show their work.
• Someone who needs a meeting to decide to go after news.
How To Apply – Show Us You're Different
Don't send a generic cover letter. Send us:
1. Resume + link to reel (lead with your 3 best moments, not your 3 best packages)
2. In 150 words or less: Tell us about a time every station had the same story, and yours was different. What was the moment, how did you get it, and how fast did the audience see it?
