Truck Underwriter

In this role, you'll manage a profitable book of business focused on small trucking accounts, primarily fleets with 2-4 power units, while partnering with agents to support growth and deliver outstanding customer service.

• Evaluate new and renewal business submissions to determine acceptability of risk.
• Analyze underwriting information, loss history, and operational details to make sound underwriting decisions.
• Develop competitive coverage solutions and pricing recommendations.
• Manage renewals in accordance with underwriting guidelines and profitability objectives.
• Monitor account performance and make appropriate underwriting recommendations based on risk characteristics and results.

• Serve as a trusted partner to independent agents by providing responsive service and underwriting expertise.
• Communicate coverage decisions, quote status, rate development rationale, and underwriting requirements.
• Collaborate with agents to identify opportunities for profitable growth.
• Travel periodically to strengthen agency and customer relationships.

• Partner with insureds, agents, and internal business partners to resolve questions and issues.
• Ensure policies, documentation, and underwriting files are completed accurately and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
• Complete administrative responsibilities and reports in a timely manner.
• Represent Great West Casualty Company professionally at agency meetings, industry events, and customer functions.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Insurance, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 1-3 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience or equivalent industry experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, mathematical, and decision-making skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships with agents, customers, and internal partners.
• Strong negotiation skills and sound business judgment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance technology systems.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to obtain a Property & Casualty license and pursue ongoing professional development.
