~1 min readHealth Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Research Assistant. The Hourly Research Assistant will assist with laboratory responsibilities including utilizing genome sequencing to screen enrolled infants for approximately 800 genetic conditions as part of a research study. This study will provide important data to determine how first-tier genetic analysis can be integrated into routine newborn screening and will assess benefits and risks. The incumbent will process dried blood spot specimens, verify infant enrollment, and assist with maintaining laboratory standard operating procedures.
This position will be part of a dynamic team serving the Wadsworth Center’s mission in the New York State Department of Health’s efforts to protect and promote the health of New York’s citizens. Come be a part of Science in the Pursuit of Health®!
Requirements
~1 min readBachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related field and one year of related experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute one year of experience.
Coursework and/or experience in human genetics and molecular biology; experience working in a clinical testing environment; experience working with sensitive patient data.
Hourly, grant funded position expected to last through 06/30/2028. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
This position is fully onsite and does not allow telecommuting.
The incumbent in this position will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
