About the Role
~2 min readWe are now looking for a Junior Data Scientist to join our ambitious team at Hedvig, to solve complex business problems across the Hedvig using the latest advancements in AI and Machine Learning. The role involves high-impact work designing and developing ML models and agentic AI solutions for fair pricing, claims handling, product recommendations, and our customer service bot.
We believe, and know from experience, that we can accelerate faster by owning the entire pipeline from raw data to deployed model, reaping the benefits from developing with AI. Working closely with experienced backend developers, ML engineers, data analysts, and various business teams, you will have the opportunity to shape the data, tools, and innovative solutions that fuel our growth. In the role you will:
Design, develop, and deploy machine learning and agentic AI systems to solve challenges across the business, including:
Optimizing and personalizing fair prices
Automating and enhancing claims handling processes
Improving product recommendations and customer journeys
Developing and maintaining our agentic AI customer service bot
Drive machine learning and AI projects from project definition and raw data to deployed model and tracking of performance, with full end-to-end ownership
Establish and manage robust Adversarial Testing and Evaluation Frameworks for AI systems
Evangelize the power of data and AI by promoting your work to the team, stakeholders and Hedvig as a whole
Be a driving force by always being on the lookout for new trends within AI, and Insurtech
The Foundation: You hold a Master’s. in Computer Science, Engineering Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
Proven Impact: You have 0-2 years of experience (ideally in Fintech or Insurtech) shipping production-grade ML models that drive real business value
The Generative Frontier: You are hands-on or experimenting with the modern AI stack, including LLMs, RAG, prompt engineering, vector databases, and fine-tuning
Agentic Thinking: You have a thirst for building and deploying agentic AI systems capable of complex, multi-step decision-making and tool-use within a business context
From Foundations to Frontiers: You possess a strong foundational understanding of everything from classical models (GLMs, GBMs) to deep learning architectures (Transformers, CNNs, RNNs)
Full-Stack Mindset: You are proficient in Python and standard DS libraries, preferably paired with SQL knowledge to architect your own data preparation and feature engineering pipelines
Production-Ready: You have some experience working with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and embrace MLOps practices to ensure your models are scalable and robust
The AI Advocate: You thrive in collaborations, translating problems into rigorous quantifiable solutions, and love evangelizing ML models and agentic AI
