The Director of Marketing will be responsible for creating and implementing a business strategy to deliver near- and long-term growth by researching and responding to markets and customers, lead pricing strategy and implementation initiatives, as well as responding to and establishing tactics to prevent or mitigate liabilities associated with product field issues.

  • Marketing
    • Develop near- and long-term strategic direction using understanding of market trends, customers, and competitor dynamics.
    • Develop and manage strategies for multiple brands within the Specialty Products Group.
    • Maintain strong connection with field & OEM sales to identify product opportunities & gaps.
    • Utilize CRM as a tool to ensure appropriate product focus and sales team effectiveness.
    • Lead and manage new product development marketing related activities.
    • Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring all key areas of the business.
    • Contribute to overall divisional strategy and operating plans and forecasts.
    • Actively participates in SPG staff and in the review of functional and divisional performance.
    • Lead the process of acquiring information to make market-related decisions and measure our progress toward exceeding customer expectations.
    • Lead the process to define product attributes that exceed customer needs and ensure competitive advantages consistent with our business strategies.
    • Develop and implement annual business and financial plans with specific actions to accomplish the objectives of the business.
    • Plan and manage performance of the business unit to achieve stated objectives, timelines, and budgets.
    • Direct MARCOM activities through corporate resources.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Pricing/Quotes
    • Manage all pricing related activities including PCRs for new and revised quotes, timely OEM and Aftermarket price file submission and implementation.
    • Support Business Development Managers and the OEMs’ requests for backup information as needed.
    • Oversee the efforts to support retro calculations for BDMs and AR groups.
    • Other pricing related requests as needed.
  • Technical Service & Aftermarket
    • Assist in technical support to customer base, providing proper repair procedures, input to technical publications and support the regional service manager.
    • Reviews and approves technical publications and vehicle applications.
    • Lead field program initiatives when appropriate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing required.
  • Master’s or advanced degree preferred.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of industrial marketing or product management experience in commercial vehicle, heavy equipment or automotive.
  • Strong financial acumen with familiarity of P&L management.
  • Experience in Industrial marketing or related background in some/all of the following:
    • Sales/Marketing data analysis.
    • Marketing research and surveys.
    • Advertising/Customer communications.
    • Sales promotion literature development/catalogue or product position.
    • Ability to properly organize and prioritize projects.
    • Ability to handle multiple projects.
    • Computer literacy with Windows environment.
    • Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent leadership skills.
    • Self-motivated with good organization and planning skills.
    • Must have good people skills and be able to develop good working relationships with the customers, distributors, sales group, staff, etc.
    • Needs to have a basic mechanical/technical aptitude (to be able to describe features/benefits to customers).
  • Demonstrated results.
  • Manage industrial marketing by incorporating both push and pull marketing tactics.
  • A broad bottom-line business orientation.
  • Frequently sitting and working at computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Office setting.
  • Minimal exposure to R&D lab and manufacturing setting.
  • Requires strong written, verbal, interpersonal skills.
  • Strong presentation skills are required, including use of presentation software.
