The Performance Improvement Specialist supports the Quality and Safety Management Department of the Heart and Vascular Institute in conducting ongoing performance improvement activities for across the Heart & Vascular Institute systemwide. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

·        Leading performance/process improvement for targeted initiatives, oversight of collection/abstraction and aggregation of data and the analysis of data /metrics to assess performance.

·        Collaborate with key stakeholders/ departments in developing best practice standards to ensure reliable safe design of care processes and workflows.

·        Subject matter expert in regulatory (CMS, JC, DPH), payer performance programs (QHIP), improvement science and high reliability concepts. 

·        Functions as a consultant to ensure compliance with all required agencies.

·        Works closely with clinical teams and Medical staff to develop practices, peer review, quality, and safety efforts that are aligned with HHC’s core values.

Education

·        Bachelor's Degree, BSN in Nursing strongly preferred

·        Masters in a related field if non-RN (MHA, MPH) required

Experience

·        Minimum 5 years clinical experience in Cardiology required

·        Experience with Quality Improvement tools and techniques, regulatory experience

Licensure, Certification, Registration

·        CPHQ, CPPS or other quality certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements

·        Proficiency with facilitating project teams as well as organizational department efforts to improve systems and process within the organization.

·        Experience in independent project management, efficiency, and an understanding of the principles surrounding performance improvement, quality of care, outcomes measurement and analysis and health care cost measurement and containment. 

·        Able to interact fluidly with staff at all levels within the organization, from front-line to senior leadership, to improve systems and process within the organization

·        Able to manage a project(s) independently, efficiently, and should have an understanding of the principles surrounding performance improvement, quality of care, outcomes measurement and analysis and health care cost measurement and containment
