About the Role

Provide direct nursing care to psychiatric patients, including monitoring physical and mental health status.
Observe patients closely for changes in behavior, mood, or physical condition and report findings to the RN and physician.
Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans developed by the clinical team.
Participate in therapeutic interactions and support patient treatment goals.

Administer prescribed medications and accurately document administration in accordance with hospital policies.
Follow nursing best practices and established clinical procedures.
Accurately document all patient care activities, observations, and interventions.

Perform routine safety checks and patient rounds, including monitoring suicide and elopement precautions.
Respond quickly and appropriately to psychiatric and medical emergencies.
Utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when responding to patients in distress.
Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Participate in shift reports, treatment team meetings, and interdisciplinary discussions.
Communicate patient status and clinical concerns to the appropriate members of the treatment team.
Provide updates to patients and families while respecting confidentiality and patient rights.

Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to support continuity of care.
Ensure accurate communication and documentation throughout transitions in care.

Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation.
Follow hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations related to psychiatric care.
Maintain compliance with HIPAA, infection control standards, and nursing best practices.
Protect patient confidentiality and uphold patient rights throughout the delivery of care.
