The Billing Excellence Lead is responsible for driving continuous improvement and process excellence within the billing function. This role focuses on transformation, innovation, and strategic enablement—leading process design, improvement projects, and supporting programs run through the Transformation Office and Operations Delivery. The role is critical to enabling scalable, customer-centric billing operations that support business growth and compliance.

    Lead continuous improvement efforts for billing processes, identifying and implementing best practices and automation opportunities.

    Design and optimize billing workflows to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and customer experience.

    Act as SME for billing on transformation programs, collaborating with the Transformation Office and cross-functional teams.

    Support the implementation of new billing technologies, ensuring alignment with operational goals and compliance standards.

    Support reconciliation processes between billing systems, payments, and general ledger

  • →

    Analyze billing data to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.

  • →

    Develop and deliver training and change management initiatives to embed process improvements.

  • →

    Track and report on improvement outcomes, including cost savings, cycle time reduction, and customer satisfaction.

    Contribute to strategic planning and roadmap development for billing excellence initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Finance, or related field.

  • 5+ years’ experience in process improvement or billing excellence roles, preferably in insurance or financial services.

  • Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement certification preferred.

  • Strong analytical, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Experience with billing systems, automation tools, and data analytics platforms (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Tableau).

The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment

Hiscox USA underwrites small- to mid-market commercial risks through brokers, other insurers and distribution partners and directly to businesses. In 2026, gross written premiums for the segment will represent over $1bn. Circa 50% of the portfolio comprises small commercial business sold either online or through intermediaries, and the remaining 50% represents traditionally traded business intermediated through broking partners including Professions, Crisis Management and Specialist lines such as Media & Entertainment. Hiscox USA has built the digital business since 2010 through ongoing investment in the brand, technology and operational capabilities. The business has pursued an omni-channel approach since inception, and so are less constrained by the channel conflict which affects some competitors. Customers have a choice of buying policies online end-to-end, by connecting with a Hiscox agent over the telephone, or alternatively through a third-party broker or insurance carrier partner.
