~1 min readThe Accountant is a highly skilled individual who will own general accounting and corporate tax functions for a competitive automation organization. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, exceptional communication skills and the ability to partner closely with FP&A, Finance and Accounting teams to support general accounting functions and corporate tax reporting.
Responsibilities

Intercompany AR/AP monthly reconciliations

Support the general ledger and trial balance, ensuring accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial data

Perform journal entry preparation and posting
- →
Ensure proper classification and accounting treatment in accordance with IFRS
- →
Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and analysis (JSOX, Hitachi, and EY auditing)
- →
Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting standards
- →
Review and approve balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve variances
- →
Coordinate financial close activities across multiple entity leads to meet reporting deadlines

Prepare month-end reconciliation of all general ledger balance sheet tax accounts.

Oversee sales and use tax obligations across the North American entities and complete timely filings

Annual Filings Business tax, Registrations and Good Standing

Avalara maintenance – exemption, certificate& registration status
- →
Oversee property tax filings and compliance with local regulations.
- →
Maintain monthly accruals and yearly returns. (PPT and BPPT)

Government Tax Reporting; Dept of Labor and Bureau Economic Activity

Maintain relationship with Hitachi America Limited(HAL) and complete necessary tax support
- →
Cross Boarder Transaction – supporting Finance teams and HAL reporting

Maintain VAT/GST/HST activities
- →
Support quarterly, annual and ad hoc audits. (Income tax driven, DTA DTL, R&D items tied to HAL SOW)

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- →
6-8 years of progressive accounting and tax experience
- →
Experience in a large, multi-entity organization
- →
ERP system experience (e.g., SAP, Epicor, EcoSys or similar)
- →
Experience partnering closely with tax reporting agencies
- →
Proficient user of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Experience supporting project-based billing or contract-driven revenue environments
Proven ability to enforce policies while maintaining positive business relationships
Strong leadership and coaching abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective management and organizational skills
High attention to detail with the ability to see the bigger picture
Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment
