R&D Senior Power Electronics Engineer

The opportunity

Join our global R&D team developing next-generation power conversion and energy systems, and help improve product competitiveness by reducing product cost while maintaining performance, quality,

reliability, manufacturability, and compliance. You will work in a cross-functional environment alongside design engineering, supply chain, sourcing, manufacturing, industrialization, quality, and suppliers to drive sustainable cost optimization across the product lifecycle.

In this role, you will identify, evaluate, and implement cost reduction opportunities across electrical, power electronic, and electromechanical assemblies. You will analyze converter architectures and bills of materials to find high-cost drivers, lead technical evaluations of alternative components and technologies,

quantify savings potential, and build the business cases that turn opportunities into implemented change.

How You’ll Make an Impact:
• Perform design-to-cost and value engineering studies, lead technical evaluations of alternative 
components, materials, and technologies, and quantify savings potential with clear business cases 
for implementation.
• Analyze power converter architectures for cost optimization opportunities and collaborate with 
design teams to simplify circuits, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
• Review product bills of materials to identify high-cost drivers, and conduct component derating and 
qualification assessments for alternative parts.
• Support redesign activities while ensuring technical performance, quality, reliability, and compliance 
requirements are maintained.
• Work closely with sourcing and supplier quality teams to identify alternative suppliers and 
technologies, and support localization and dual-sourcing initiatives.

 Participate in supplier technical reviews and cost workshops, and evaluate supplier proposals from 
technical, reliability, and performance perspectives.
• Define validation plans for cost-reduction changes and support prototype testing and qualification 
activities.
• Analyze risks associated with component substitutions and design modifications, and ensure 
compliance with applicable standards and customer requirements.
• Coordinate with product development, manufacturing engineering, industrialization, supply chain, 
procurement, quality, and service organizations, and provide technical recommendations to product 
management and engineering leadership.
• Develop cost-out roadmaps for strategic product families, and establish cost benchmarking methods 
and competitive product analysis.
• Contribute to design guidelines that improve product cost efficiency in future platforms.

and guidelines.
