Trades Assistant

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Trade Assistant to join our team in Mackay. In this permanent full-time role, you will be responsible for assisting Diesel Fitters with service and repairs of heavy engineering parts and components.

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, your main responsibilities will include:

• →Assist trades people conducting repairs of mechanical equipment and parts,
• →Assist with maintaining the workshop and associated equipment in a safe, clean, and tidy condition,
• →Operation of grinders, spray painting equipment and other tools and machinery as required in a safe manner.

To be considered for this position you will ideally have:

• Sound mechanical aptitude,
• Ability to operate grinders, spray painting equipment and other tools and machinery safely,
• Excellent attention to detail,
• Hands on person who can prioritise workload and work to deadlines,
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team,
• Forklift licence (beneficial but not essential),
• Previous experience working in mining / manufacturing industry (preferred).
