Technical Expert

Hive Group, a HUBZone-certified SDVOSB and multiple award-winning organization, delivers innovative solutions for complex, mission-critical federal programs. We are seeking multiple (9) highly skilled, detail-oriented CUAS Technical Experts to support our TSA Client. 

This position is contingent upon award.

The CUAS Technical Expert will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Law Enforcement / Federal Air Marshal Service (LE/FAMS) Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems Unit. Operating as part of a high-performing field support team under the direct supervision of a Contractor CUAS Technical Lead, the Technical Expert will deploy nationwide to set up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and recover multi-vendor, vendor-neutral fixed-site, mobile, and portable CUAS detection and authorized mitigation platforms. In close coordination with designated Government technical leads, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in maintaining operational readiness and executing critical tactical operations in defense of national security. 

Location: Work for this position will primarily be performed at the TSA/FAMS facility located at 6595 Springfield Center Drive, Springfield, VA 22150, though remote or offsite performance may be authorized by the Government when appropriate and aligned with security and contract requirements. 

Additionally, contractor personnel will be required from time to time to attend in-person meetings, briefings, program reviews, equipment coordination events, or mission support activities at the primary site or other Government-designated locations when directed. 

This role requires travel up to 30% from the National Capital Region (NCR) to operational deployment locations nationwide 

• →System Deployment & Field Operations:
  • →Deploy to CUAS operational locations nationwide to set up, configure, and operate fixed-site, mobile, and portable detection and authorized mitigation platforms.
  • →Execute pre-deployment testing, system calibration, operational checks, and readiness verifications.
  • →Operate CUAS systems strictly under required Federal Air Marshal Service / Government direction and oversight.
  • →Conduct post-deployment shutdown, equipment recovery, inspection, inventory control, and complete property accountability.
• →Technical Maintenance & Systems Integration:
  • →Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot CUAS hardware, software, firmware, networks, and integrations across multiple platforms and manufacturers.
  • →Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • →Support integration and situational awareness via CUAS data portals, the Team Awareness Kit (TAK), geospatial platforms, and command-and-control (C2) interfaces.
  • →Support interoperability across sensors, command platforms, data repositories, and authorized external networks.
• →Documentation, Compliance & Logistics:
  • →Document technical faults, maintenance actions, deployment records, incident details, and contribute to After-Action Reports (AARs).
  • →Contribute data to the recurring CUAS Technical Readiness and Equipment Status Report and CUAS Deployment and Technical Activity Report.
  • →Support the transportation, loading, unloading, and physical movement of CUAS equipment and auxiliary support systems.
  • →Adhere strictly to federal cybersecurity guidelines, spectrum management policies, privacy standards, evidence handling, and operational safety rules.

• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant CUAS technical or operational experience.
• Background Context: Experience gained through military service, civilian law enforcement, CUAS Field Service Representative (FSR) duties, or equivalent contract technical positions.
• Certifications & Licensure:
  • Active Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Valid State Driver's License.
• Citizenship & Clearance:
  • United States Citizen.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain/maintain one.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Hands-on experience configuring, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting technical systems, integrated sensors, communications, or command-and-control (C2) architectures.
  • Proficiency with standard desktop software (Microsoft Office, Teams) and familiarity with geospatial tools or TAK environments.
• Physical & Environmental Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 70 pounds (with reasonable accommodation as applicable).
  • Ability to work outdoors, stand for extended periods, and operate under varying weather and field conditions.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% from the National Capital Region to deployment sites nationwide.
  • Ability to support occasional non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on national security mission demands.
