The Opportunity
Are you an experienced mechanical fitter ready to step up and build a rewarding career in operational leadership? At Holcim, we believe in unlocking potential and supporting our people to reach their next career milestone.
In this Trainee Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader role based at our Callow Rock operation, you will bridge hands-on engineering expertise with supervisory skills. If you bring solid mechanical know-how, we will provide all the support, mentoring, and structured training you need to master people leadership and develop forward-thinking maintenance routines that keep our site performing at its best.
Working alongside our Engineering Manager, your primary focus will be supporting the safe, effective delivery of mechanical maintenance across the plant:
Coordinating day-to-day preventative and reactive maintenance tasks for the mechanical fitting team.
Diagnosing mechanical faults, resolving breakdowns, and completing root cause failure analysis to implement durable solutions.
Learning and establishing scheduled maintenance routines and inspection plans using digital maintenance management systems.
Supporting a positive safety culture by preparing safe working procedures, permits to work, and risk assessments.
Liaising with external contractors, coordinating site inductions, and assisting with spare parts and stores management.
Who you are
You hold strong practical mechanical fitting experience, ideally supported by an NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
You are keen to develop into a leadership role; while prior supervisory experience is welcome, your genuine enthusiasm to guide, support, and collaborate with a team is what matters most.
You are curious and eager to learn the technical principles behind planned preventative maintenance and asset care routines.
You bring a safety-first mindset, with an appreciation for safe working practices, risk management, and tidy work environments.
You are an approachable communicator who enjoys solving practical problems, sharing ideas, and working collaboratively with colleagues across all levels of the site.
You possess sound digital and administrative skills, with the confidence to learn new maintenance scheduling software and monitoring tools.
We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
