  • The Opportunity

Are you looking to bring your specialist technical expertise to one of the most unique and ambitious industrial sites in the UK? Holcim UK is a leading supplier of traditional and sustainable construction materials, dedicated to building a greener, more sustainable world.

We are looking for Vulcaniser Fitter to join our dedicated team at Glensanda. In this vital role, you will be at the heart of our operations, shaping our reliability-centred maintenance practices and keeping crucial materials-handling systems running smoothly and safely.

Working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Manager, and production teams, your key responsibilities will include:

    • Coordinating and carrying out short, medium, and long-term vulcanising activities across the site to ensure optimal plant availability.

    • Championing our culture of safety by maintaining strict compliance with health, safety, and statutory guidelines, alongside industry best practices.

    • Troubleshooting recurring conveyor and vulcanising challenges, collaborating across electrical and mechanical teams to resolve root causes and reduce maintenance downtime.

    • Supporting the transition from breakdown repairs towards predictive, Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM).

    • Scheduling planned plant maintenance and shutdowns using our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

    • Supervising specialist contractors on site, ensuring work is carried out to the highest quality and safety standards within the permit-to-work framework.

    • Partnering with engineering management to help plan maintenance budgets and supervise allocated improvement projects.

    Who you are

You are a skilled and conscientious technical specialist who takes pride in quality workmanship and collaborative problem-solving. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

    • Proven Engineering Experience: You have hands-on experience working within an engineering, quarrying, or heavy industrial environment, ideally with a background in vulcanising or conveyor systems.

    • Safety First Mindset: You demonstrate an active commitment to safe systems of work and hold yourself and your teammates to exceptional safety standards.

    • A Collaborative Approach: You communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues across various departments, from operations to central support services, building strong working relationships.

    • Analytical Problem-Solving: You enjoy getting to the root of mechanical issues, adapting to changing situations, and finding reliable, lasting solutions.

    • Organisational & Digital Skills: You possess good attention to detail and sound digital literacy, feeling comfortable using maintenance software (CMMS) to document work, track tasks, and organise schedules.

    • Flexibility: You are comfortable working within a continuous 24/7 operational environment to help achieve shared goals and meet time-sensitive milestones.

We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age
