We have a strong team of Instructional Designers who are focused on building associate capability and driving business performance, and we’re looking to add to the team.
That’s where you come in! The Sr. Instructional Designer serves as a strategic learning consultant, performance partner, and design thought leader. The Sr. Instructional Designer leverages advanced instructional design expertise, AI-enabled workflows, learning analytics, and consultative problem-solving to address business challenges and influence learning strategy. In addition to designing high-impact learning solutions, this role coaches and mentors other designers, pioneers innovative methodologies and technologies, and helps shape the future of learning design practices across the organization.

Requirements

- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
- Master's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, HR Development, Organizational Development, I/O Psychology, or related field preferred (or equivalent Home Depot experience)
- Experience designing adaptive, multi-modal, and non-linear learning experiences that support personalized learning journeys
- Ability to integrate learning, performance support, and other enablement strategies into a cohesive learning ecosystem
- Experience incorporating learning analytics and data into the design process to identify trends, personalize and/or recommend learning strategies, and measure business impact
- Experience working within and/or leading in agile learning development or the Successive Approximation Model (SAM) environments
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled workflows to accelerate design, development, analysis, and content production
- Experience evaluating emerging technologies and advising teams on effective and responsible adoption of AI tools and practices
- Strong proficiency using modern learning technologies, AI-enabled content development platforms, and digital learning tools (i.e., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Creative Cloud, Copilot, Gemini, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to act as a consultative performance partner, diagnosing business and performance challenges and recommending solutions beyond traditional training
- Proven ability to coach and mentor designers, provide design feedback, elevate quality standards, champion AI, and share expertise across a team
- Experience establishing best practices, introducing innovative approaches, and influencing the evolution of learning design methodologies
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a associate's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

- Advanced knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theories
- Proficiency with software including Microsoft Office and standard eLearning development tools
- Proficient knowledge of project management principles and MS Project
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
