Houston Landscapes Ltd. (Business address 260 Riverside Dr, North Vancouver, BC V7H 1V1) is seeking experience Senior Landscape Carpenter for its location in North Vancouver, BC. It’s a full-time (40 hours per week), permanent position, $37.00 - $40.00/hour (depending on experience), paid on a bi-weekly basis. Overtime compensation is based on the current BC Employment Standards Act (1.5 times the regular wage paid if the daily hours exceed 8 hours or the weekly hours exceed 40 hours).
We offer an employee benefit plan that includes health benefits available after 6 months with the company. Two weeks of paid vacation each year.
Location of employment: Vancouver Mainland
Job duties:
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and building plans to determine layout, dimensions, and materials required;
- Lead the execution of carpentry aspects of landscape construction projects, including decks, garden walls, walkways, stairs, retaining walls, water features, and outdoor structures;
- Inspect existing structures and perform repairs or replacements of damaged framework, fixtures, and components using hand and power tools;
- Measure, cut, and shape materials to required specifications with attention to quality and accuracy;
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and proactively maintain a safe and organized work environment;
- Provide guidance and technical directions to labourers or entry-level carpenters;
- Work independently on assigned tasks while following project specifications and timelines;
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with established safety practices;
- Complete daily records of work performed, including time and materials used.
Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school is required;
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required;
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Carpenter or a combination of relevant work experience and formal training;
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination;
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift and carry heavy materials;
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in environments that may include working at heights, in confined, noisy, and/or dusty conditions;
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and task planning skills;
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions;
