The Tax and Compliance Assistant Manager is responsible for overseeing the organization's tax compliance, statutory reporting, regulatory requirements, and related documentation. This role ensures the accurate and timely filing of tax returns, compliance with government regulations, effective coordination with regulatory agencies, and proper management of accountable forms, insurance requirements, and compliance records. The position also provides leadership to the Tax and Compliance team, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory adherence, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable Philippine tax laws, regulations, and statutory requirements, including those mandated by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Local Government Units (LGUs), and other regulatory agencies.
- Prepare, review, and oversee tax returns, tax computations, reconciliations, statutory reports, and other compliance-related reports, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
- Manage the timely filing and payment of taxes and statutory obligations while maintaining complete supporting documentation.
- Perform regular tax reconciliations and reviews to ensure accurate financial reporting, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Coordinate and prepare documentation required for tax audits, external audits, regulatory inspections, and government assessments, ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
- Monitor updates to tax laws, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements, recommending and implementing process improvements and policy enhancements to maintain compliance.
- Analyze financial data to identify tax-saving opportunities and recommend appropriate tax planning initiatives while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the inventory, safekeeping, issuance, and replenishment of accountable forms, including BIR-registered invoices, receipts, and other regulated documents.
- Coordinate with insurance providers for the renewal and maintenance of insurance coverage for company assets, branches, and new business locations.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of tax filings, regulatory submissions, contracts, agreements, accountable forms, and compliance documents in both physical and electronic formats.
- Prepare and submit Financial Statement Closing Process reports and other tax-related management reports within established deadlines.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with government agencies, external auditors, consultants, insurance providers, and other key stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax compliance processes, documentation, internal controls, and reporting efficiency.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop the Tax and Compliance team, ensuring high standards of performance, accountability, technical competency, and continuous professional development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least three (3) years of experience in tax and compliance, including a minimum of one (1) year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine taxation, statutory reporting, regulatory compliance, and government filing requirements.
- Experience coordinating with the BIR, SEC, LGUs, external auditors, consultants, and insurance providers.
- Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems; SAP experience is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in tax reconciliations, tax return preparation, financial reporting, audit support, and compliance documentation.

- Strong understanding of Philippine tax regulations, GAAP, IFRS, and statutory reporting requirements.

- Proficiency in accounting systems, financial reporting tools, and digital document management.
