Engineer (2-year fixed-term contract) - MVDC Circuit Breaker

• Design, simulate, and test medium voltage (MV) circuit breakers, including vacuum, solid-state (SSCBs), and hybrid variants ensuring compliance with IEC standards.

• Pioneer novel concepts to develop ultrafast MVDC circuit breakers.

• Strong capability to set up MV test circuits, assemble prototypes, and conduct lab experiments safely under MVDC conditions.

• Lead joint research initiatives with European universities and institutions in specialized research domains.

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field with focus in MVDC/AC protection strategies.

• Knowhow about hybrid or solid‑state DC circuit breakers and ultra‑fast protection concepts.

• MVDC breaker technologies for renewables, BESS, or data center applications.Power system protection and fault analysis in AC and/or DC grids

• Medium/high‑voltage equipment (circuit breakers, switchgear, insulation coordination)

• Power electronics and converter topologies for MVDC/HVDC, PV, or battery energy storage systems 

• Experience with testing per IEC standards, including fault current interruption and high-frequency transients.

• Experience with semiconductors (IGBTs, SiC MOSFETs, JFETs) for MV switching applications.

• Experience with simulation tools such as PLECS, PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP, or LTspice.
