Job Overview
Lead Grand Hyatt Phu Quoc, a luxury resort planned at close to 1,000 guest rooms and targeted to open in late 2027. The role covers Grand Hyatt Phu Quoc, with overall responsibility for hotel performance, colleagues, guests and owner relations.
With support from Hyatt’s pre-opening team, you will build the leadership team, establish operating disciplines and prepare the hotel for launch. You will provide visible, hands-on leadership through opening and the operating ramp-up, delivering a consistent Grand Hyatt experience across leisure stays, dining and events.
Key Responsibilities
Lead The Opening
Work with the pre-opening team to manage hotel readiness, the critical path and pre-opening budget. Align recruitment, training, systems, procurement and operating supplies with project milestones, with clear responsibilities and escalation routes.
Deliver A Safe Opening.
Align room and facility readiness with the agreed project schedule. Coordinate commissioning, handover, permits, life-safety readiness and operating trials with the responsible specialists. Protect guests and colleagues from ongoing works and escalate unresolved risks before opening.
Build The Team and Culture
Recruit and develop a capable leadership team and local talent pipeline. Align staffing and training with operating needs, and work with HR and the owner on employee accommodation, transport and colleague facilities that support recruitment and retention.
Establish Grand Hyatt Service
Lead service delivery across rooms, food and beverage, recreation and events. Prepare teams for high-volume guest flows and concurrent activities while maintaining luxury service, brand standards and effective service recovery.
Own Financial Performance
Lead the full hotel P&L, business plan, budgets, forecasts and capital priorities. Control pre-opening expenditure and the staffing and cost ramp-up, using operating data to improve revenue, profitability, productivity and asset performance.
Build The Commercial Base
Develop positioning, sales, distribution and revenue strategy with the commercial team. Balance leisure, group and event demand with available inventory and facilities, building sustainable business beyond launch and responding to seasonality.
Manage Owner and Stakeholder Relationships
Build trust through clear reporting, timely decisions and practical solutions. Explain operational and financial trade-offs, follow through on agreed actions and maintain productive relationships with the owner, Hyatt, local partners and authorities.
Plan Resort Logistics
Establish reliable purchasing, inventory, transport and service arrangements for an island location. Test supplier capacity, contingency plans and essential outsourced services against opening volumes and future operating needs.
Protect People and The Business
Ensure operations meet applicable requirements and Hyatt standards for safety, security, ethics and responsible business. Lead emergency preparedness, business continuity, sustainability and community engagement with the relevant teams.
Sustain Performance After Opening
Monitor guest experience, colleague capability and retention, commercial performance and operating risks. Resolve recurring issues, develop successors and adapt the operating model as the hotel moves into established operations.
