UI/UX Specialist

IIX's digital platforms serve very different users. A woman running a micro-enterprise in rural Indonesia may be answering an IIX Values™ impact survey on a low-end Android phone with patchy data, while an institutional investor reviews impact data on IIX Intelligence™ or browses enterprises on Impact Partners. Both need products that are simple, trustworthy, and quick to use.

This role exists to design those experiences, from user research through to polished interfaces and a shared design system. Success means higher completion rates for data collection, fewer support requests, dashboards that make impact data easy to understand, and a consistent look and feel across IIX's platforms.

• Plan and run user research with MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, investors, and internal teams, including interviews, usability tests, and remote or field testing.

• Translate findings into personas, journey maps, and prioritized problem statements that guide the product roadmap.

• Use product analytics and user feedback to identify friction points and drop-off, and test whether design changes fix them.

• Design end-to-end user flows, information architecture, wireframes, and interactive prototypes across IIX's platforms, including IIX Values™, IIX Intelligence™, Impact Partners, and the IIX Institute learning platform.

• Design mobile-first for low bandwidth, low-end devices, varied digital literacy, and the multiple languages used in IIX's markets.

• Simplify complex impact data collection, such as surveys and onboarding, to reduce effort and improve data quality.

• Create high-fidelity designs and prototypes in Figma that reflect IIX's brand.

• Build and maintain a shared design system, including components, typography, color, iconography, and usage guidelines.

• Design dashboards and data visualizations that make impact and financial data clear to investors, partners, and enterprises.

• Apply WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards across all products, including for users with disabilities.

• Make sure designs work for women and under-served users, for example by reducing time burden and avoiding assumptions about literacy, device access, or connectivity.

• Work with product and engineering teams in agile sprints, from scoping through to handoff, and review built features to make sure they match the design.

• Fully own the key design metrics, including success metrics and customer engagement SLAs, and measure design improvements against them (e.g., task completion, time on task, drop-off, and user satisfaction).

• Support the communications team on website and digital campaign design as needed.

You also understand that your duties may include providing support and guidance on other initiatives and programs within IIX across countries, performing work for IIX's affiliates and IIX Foundation from time to time, and any other duties required. You will also be involved in ad hoc projects as and when required.

• 4–6+ years of experience in UI/UX or product design, with a portfolio of shipped web and mobile products.

• Tools & technical skills: proficiency in Figma (prototyping, components, and design systems) and in using AI tools to speed up the creation of wireframes and mockups; working knowledge of HTML/CSS to collaborate effectively with engineers.

• Hands-on experience running user research and usability testing, and turning findings into design decisions.

• Experience designing data-heavy interfaces such as dashboards, complex forms, and data visualizations.

• Experience designing for emerging markets, mobile-first, or low-connectivity users is a strong advantage.

• Impact & ownership: proven ability to measure design improvements against success metrics and customer engagement SLAs, and to take full ownership of those metrics.

• Solid knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG).

• Fluent English and Bahasa Indonesia; another language used in IIX's markets is an advantage. A degree in design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• Mindset & problem solving: thinks outside the box and drives innovative design solutions.

• A strong advocate for users who are rarely in the room when product decisions are made.

• Comfortable working as a hands-on designer in a lean team, moving between research, UX, and UI.

• Explains design decisions with evidence and takes feedback well.
