📌 Position: Mid-Level Database Administrator (AWS, PostgreSQL, SQL Server & Kafka)
Location: Remote from LATAM
Contract Type: Full-time vendor (Contract directly with In All Media)
Time Zone Alignment: US business hours overlap required

In All Media is a global technology and design firm focused on building impactful digital solutions through remote, distributed teams across LATAM. We partner with international clients across industries, providing long-term technical expertise, product innovation, and team augmentation.

In this role, you will join an engineering environment supporting highly available, business-critical database infrastructure across AWS cloud platforms.

The position is focused on the operational administration, performance, reliability, security, and automation of enterprise relational database systems, primarily AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.

You will work closely with software engineering and infrastructure teams to maintain resilient production environments, troubleshoot complex database performance issues, automate operational processes, and strengthen high-availability and disaster recovery capabilities.

This is a hands-on Database Administration and Infrastructure role. It is not focused on Data Engineering, BI, analytics, reporting, or data pipeline development.

Responsibilities

  • →High Availability & Uptime Management: Maintain, monitor, and optimize production relational database clusters to ensure high availability, resilient replication, and continuous operational performance.
  • →Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Design, document, test, and execute disaster recovery procedures while maintaining aggressive RTO and RPO targets and supporting zero-data-loss objectives.
  • →Database Performance Tuning & Diagnostics: Perform deep performance analysis including query profiling, execution plan reviews, index optimization, lock contention analysis, memory and I/O diagnostics, and database engine parameter tuning.
  • →System Security & Access Governance: Manage database access controls, user permissions, credentials, and least-privilege policies while ensuring production environments comply with organizational security standards.
  • →Infrastructure Automation & IaC: Automate database provisioning, configuration updates, parameter groups, maintenance tasks, and scaling policies using Terraform and scripting technologies such as Python or PowerShell.
  • →AWS Database Operations: Administer and support managed database environments using AWS RDS and Amazon Aurora, ensuring reliability, scalability, security, and operational efficiency.
  • →Kafka Platform Operations: Support Confluent Kafka / Apache Kafka environments through cluster monitoring, health checks, troubleshooting, and operational administration.
  • →Cross-Functional System Design & Reviews: Partner with software engineering teams on schema design, query reviews, capacity planning, database architecture, and production-readiness recommendations.
  • →Incident Response & Operational Stability: Provide hands-on Tier 3 production support, investigate database and infrastructure incidents, resolve service degradations, and contribute to post-incident Root Cause Analyses (RCAs).
  • Experience Level: 3–4 years of hands-on, mid-level production experience administering, tuning, securing, and supporting enterprise database environments.
  • Core RDBMS Platforms: Production experience with both AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server. Candidates may have deeper expertise in one platform while maintaining practical operational experience with the other.
  • AWS Cloud Database Services: Strong experience managing production database environments using AWS RDS and Amazon Aurora.
  • Database Performance Tuning: Proven ability to diagnose query regressions, execution plan issues, lock contention, indexing problems, memory and I/O bottlenecks, and database configuration issues.
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Hands-on experience implementing HA architectures, replication strategies, failover testing, backup and restore procedures, and disaster recovery execution.
  • Automation & Scripting: Practical experience using Python or PowerShell to automate database administration, monitoring, maintenance, or operational workflows.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience provisioning and managing database infrastructure using Terraform or comparable Infrastructure as Code frameworks.
  • Kafka Operations: Operational experience with Confluent Kafka or Apache Kafka, including cluster administration, monitoring, health validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Security & Access Management: Experience managing production database permissions, authentication, credential governance, and least-privilege access controls.
  • Production Operations: Strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting critical production systems, responding to incidents, and identifying root causes.
  • Role Alignment: Candidates must have a strong operational / infrastructure DBA background. Profiles primarily focused on Data Engineering, BI/reporting, analytics, Tableau, Apache Airflow, or Apache Spark are not aligned with this position.
  • Environment & Connectivity — Mandatory Compliance: Ability to work entirely within an enterprise-provisioned Virtual Desktop Infrastructure using AWS WorkSpaces. Candidates must complete the official AWS WorkSpaces network health check and submit a screenshot demonstrating successful latency and connectivity results alongside their profile.
  • Advanced Kafka Ecosystem: Experience developing or configuring custom Kafka connectors, managing Schema Registry, or working with stream-processing technologies such as ksqlDB or Apache Flink.
  • Additional Database Technologies: Administration experience or practical familiarity with MongoDB, Snowflake, or MySQL.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Broader experience supporting AWS infrastructure and production cloud environments.
  • Observability: Familiarity with database monitoring, infrastructure observability, centralized logging, alerting, and production performance monitoring tools.

🌐 Time Zone & Collaboration

This role requires consistent overlap with US business hours to collaborate effectively with distributed engineering and infrastructure teams across production support, troubleshooting, architecture discussions, and operational activities.

💬 Language

All interviews, technical documentation, daily team communications, incident discussions, and operational collaboration will be conducted in English.
