This Medical Assistant II position will function primarily as an Administrative Medical Assistant with a strong focus on surgical scheduling and coordination. The role serves as a critical liaison between patients, providers, hospitals, and surgical centers, ensuring that all aspects of the surgical process are organized, communicated, and completed efficiently.

Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Responsibilities

  • →Scheduling and coordinating surgical procedures.
  • →Obtaining and managing insurance authorizations.
  • →Verifying patient demographics, insurance information, and surgical details.
  • →Communicating surgery dates, times, and pre-operative instructions to patients.
  • →Coordinating with providers, hospitals, and surgical centers to ensure all required documentation is received and completed prior to surgery.
  • →Managing schedule changes, cancellations, and rescheduling requests.
  • →Maintaining accurate patient records and ensuring documentation remains up to date throughout the surgical process.
  • →Serving as a communication link between patients and the care team to help facilitate a smooth surgical experience.

✓AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare workers certification required. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
✓High school diploma or equivalent required.
✓New hires and promotions after October 5th, 2025, will require graduation from a Medical Assistant program.Knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, and ADA required.
✓TB validated (to administer or read) or validation obtained within 6 months of hire may be required.
✓Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding preferred.
✓Knowledge of Business Unit Quality Programs, Meaningful Use and Standard Work Programs and concepts within 6 months of hire.
✓Knowledge of standard laboratory and medical procedures.Knowledge of insurance plans and third-party payers.
✓Ability to master standard clinical competencies per current Clinical policy, Point of Care and Skills Competency checklists.
✓Requires basic math and accurate data collection and entry skills.
