Welcome to 5E, our Med/Surg unit with 30 beds dedicated to respiratory, infectious diseases, and general Med/Surg care. 

On 5E, you can earn a certification in Med Surg/Progressive Care, adding to your professional growth. Our unit embraces a friendly culture, emphasizing teamwork and cohesion. 5E is more than just a workplace – it's the place to be, where we not only teach you to be the best nurse but also actively participate in your succession planning in nursing.

Nursing skills gained on this unit: 

  • Obtain Med Surg/Progressive Care certifications

  • Develop strong bedside and procedural skills 

  • Understand and develop further expertise for a variety of treatments due to nature of acuity adaptable

  • Time management & flexibility while managing patients ranging in acuity levels

Qualifications: 

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.

  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. 

    • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).    

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.     

  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
