Schedule & Work Environment:

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No weekends or holidays. Onsite position

 

Location:

  • North Hospital Medical Office Building (MOB) – Carmel

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate efficient patient flow from point of entry to final destination in a timely, accurate, and professional manner

  • Schedule and coordinate appointments with Radiology and the Pulmonary Function Lab

  • Obtain and verify patient demographic, insurance, and financial information to ensure accurate records and optimal reimbursement

  • Interview patients to collect appropriate medical information

  • Explain departmental and hospital policies, procedures, and charges

  • Enter and validate charges in appropriate systems and collect required payments

  • Answer incoming calls and direct patients and visitors appropriately

  • Utilize Cerner (or Epic) to manage scheduling, registration, and documentation

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Understanding of the role and accountability for performing it effectively

  • Experience with Cerner or Epic preferred

  • Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Ability to learn, understand, and retain medical coding concepts, including ICD-10 and CPT

  • Ability to interpret insurance information accurately

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  •  

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a healthcare or clinical setting

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical practices

  • Experience with medical coding (ICD-10, CPT)

  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems (Cerner or Epic preferred)
