Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive immigration advising to prospective and current F-1 international students regarding visa regulations, application procedures, and compliance requirements 
  • Issue Initial I-20s for newly admitted international students seeking a Change of Status or Consular interview for F1 status
  • Facilitate SEVIS transfers for incoming students, ensuring seamless transition and compliance with federal regulations 
  • Counsel students on F-1 visa application procedures, interview preparation, and documentation requirements for U.S. embassy/consulate appointments 
  • Serve as lead coordinator for new student SEVIS registration processing at the beginning of each academic term 
  • Maintain accurate and timely SEVIS records in accordance with SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program) regulations
  • Assist with regular SEVIS record audits to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance and overall SEVP compliance initiatives, policy development, and best practices implementation 
  • Respond to USCIS Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and other government inquiries with thorough, accurate documentation 
  • Lead communication efforts with enrollment management, admissions, and academic departments regarding international student immigration processes and requirements and provide training and guidance to enrollment team members on immigration regulations, documentation requirements, and best practices 
  • Maintain current knowledge of F-1 visa regulations and other nonimmigrant visa categories (B-1/B-2, H-1B, L-1, O-1, etc.) to effectively advise students pursuing change of status applications 
  • Assist students with complex immigration matters requiring coordination between multiple visa types 
  • Uses AI tools to support daily work activities, enhance output quality, and improve efficiency within defined processes and guidelines

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Required, Masters Preferred
  • Designated School Official (DSO) certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
  • Thorough knowledge of SEVIS, SEVP regulations, and F-1 visa requirements
  • Strong understanding of U.S. immigration law and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex federal regulations
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience as a DSO or in international student services
  • Knowledge of multiple nonimmigrant visa categories and change of status procedures
  • Experience with SEVIS batch processing and large-scale student registration
  • Familiarity with higher education enrollment management processes
